THE BUSINESS CHALLENGE. THE CHANGE. THE RESULT.

The challenge

Airport staff depended on fragmented information and manual communication to coordinate changing flights, gates and ground services. Growing passenger operations required a more connected way to keep the right teams informed.

The change

The operator built an OutSystems information hub combining flight feeds and exposing shared services. Initial web and text alerts evolved into an application ecosystem with mobile notifications and offline information access.

The outcome

The source describes 179 applications across ten airports at the time of reporting, built over a long-running program. It reports an average of ninety notifications per flight and 194,000 application hits per day; these are operational activity measures, not unique-user counts.

DIGITAL ALCHIMIA’S DELIVERY PERSPECTIVE

What could this approach unlock for your business?

The useful next step is to connect the story to your own operating reality. Here are the questions we would bring into that conversation.

01

Build the shared event before multiplying the alerts.

A gate or arrival change may affect several operational teams, but each needs different context and timing. Define the authoritative event, subscription rules and exception paths before adding more notifications. OutSystems delivery expertise can reinforce the shared services and applications that consume them.

02

Treat a long-running portfolio as an operating responsibility.

Application count alone does not explain whether a critical process is dependable. Define ownership, monitoring, release acceptance and support for the services that many teams reuse. A specialist team can reinforce those responsibilities while helping the organization assess which next application creates useful operational value.
