THE BUSINESS CHALLENGE. THE CHANGE. THE RESULT.

The challenge

Disconnected international freight and local delivery systems left a visibility gap as parcels moved between networks. The new business unit needed an adaptable solution without building a dedicated development capability first.

The change

Two developers delivered an OutSystems transit application MVP in eight days, then iteratively extended it into a productive system within two months. A second tracking application reused the same backend services.

The outcome

The source reports end-to-end parcel visibility across warehouse and transit steps, alongside improved returns handling, collection reminders and mobile support for handlers. Its comparison with hand coding was based on an earlier development estimate.

DIGITAL ALCHIMIA’S DELIVERY PERSPECTIVE

What could this approach unlock for your business?

The useful next step is to connect the story to your own operating reality. Here are the questions we would bring into that conversation.

01

Follow the parcel identity across network boundaries.

Tracking becomes fragmented when systems disagree about which record represents a parcel, a shipment or a handling event. Define the identifiers and status transitions before designing the customer view. OutSystems professionals can reinforce the integration work and exception handling needed to keep that shared journey understandable.

02

Reuse the operational foundation before adding a second experience.

A handler application and a customer tracking view may need different interfaces while relying on the same events. Make ownership, synchronization and permissions explicit in those shared services. Reuse then becomes a delivery decision supported by reliable records rather than simply copying screens.
